Larp House Presents: Screwing the Crew

Screwing the Crew

A___ is together with B___, and is making out with C___, who is in love with D___, who is having an affair with E___, who rejected F___… who is hitting on everybody. A lot of people live this way. Sometimes everybody’s happy, and other times it doesn’t really work out that well. What emotions, conflicts and weird situations may arise in a group of friends with somewhat loose sexual relations crisscrossing the social sphere? And how did it turn out that way?

What

Screwing the Crew is a live-action scenario about a holiday party and people with varying degrees of open relationships in a tightly-knit social scene, for 7 to 15 players.

Designed by Elin Nilsen and Trine Lise Lindahl
Organized by Katherine Shane, Shawn Stokes, and Cat Stuntebeck

Larp House Presents: Old Friends

Spooky abandoned room

Back in the ‘90s you hunted ghosts together. You used an ancient technique that reliably bridged two worlds, and you put a lot of souls to rest. Like any team you were a mess of individual flaws, contradictions and rivalry, but it worked.

It worked until Sara died.

And now here you are, twenty years later. The past has brought you back together. Together for that one last job.

What

A live-action ghost story for four to five players.

Designed by Ole Peder Giæver and Jason Morningstar
Organized by l.p.lade and Shawn Stokes

When

Saturday, 20 October 2018, 7:00 pm to midnight

Where

A private residence in St. Paul. Details will be provided to participants.

Registration

Participation in this event is offered free of charge.

If you are interested in playing, fill out our Old Friend sign-up before 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 16 October. If more people sign up than we have room for, attendance will be decided by weighted lottery. You should know if you are in or out of the larp by Wednesday, 17 October.

Larp House Presents: I Say a Little Prayer

image

Five gay men live together in a shared apartment in New York City. We follow this group of friends over a couple of years in the early 1980s when the AIDS epidemic hit gay communities hard. These men will be personally affected by the AIDS crisis over the course of play.

This larp is a condensed version of the internationally acclaimed Nordic larp Just a Little Lovin’, run in Minnesota last year. The themes of friendship, desire, and death are universal ones. We hope to offer participants new insight on an often overlooked part of US history through this event.

What

I Say a Little Prayer, a freeform Nordic larp scenario for five players.

Designed by Tor Kjetil Edland
Organized by Jon Cole and l.p.lade

When

Saturday, 22 September 2018 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Where

The larp will be held at a private residence in Minneapolis or St. Paul (TBD)

Registration

If you are interested in playing, fill out our I Say a Little Prayer sign-up form before 11:59 pm on Wednesday, September 12th. You should know if you are in or out of the larp by Tuesday, September 18th.

We encourage you to sign-up promptly! If we see there are sufficient sign-ups, we may consider adding additional runs. If way way too many people sign up, attendance in the multiple runs will be decided by weighted lottery.

Documentation for Athena’s Chosen

Documentation for ATHENA’S CHOSEN, a live-action game about women in ancient Greece seeking empowerment through the favor of Greek goddesses.

Larp House Presents: Athena’s Chosen

image

The novices are locked in the holiest of holy in Athena’s temple. This final night you will be tested and tempted by the gods themselves. Will you have the faith to turn your back forever on family, love, and desire to become an Exalted Virgin Priestess and finally have true power in the world of men? Or will you listen to the sweet temptations of wild Dionysus, the god of ritual madness and fertility, and leave with his free but shunned cultists. Maybe you will reject the gods and return to your beloved but intensely patriarchal Ancient Arcadian Greece outside the temple walls. Your virginity, your soul, the patronymic name that your father branded into your very skin – you might lose them all tonight.

This larp uses physical space to direct players rather than time-bound act structures – as you walk into the different gods’ areas, their essence will influence your character.

All characters identify as female, players of all genders (or none) are equally welcome.

WHAT: ATHENA’S CHOSEN, a parlor larp for 8 – 16 players (the more the merrier!).

Designed by Susanne Vejdemo and Anna-Karin Linder.

Organized by TLS, Katherine Shane.

WHEN: Saturday, May 12th from 2pm to 6pm
