Larp House Presents: Villa Air-Bel

Marseille, late fall, 1940.

France has been occupied by the Germans and the collaborationist Vichy regime has been allowed to exist in the south. American liberals are stunned at the fall of France and horrified by German (and now French) anti-intellectualism and anti-Semitic brutality. These liberals form the Emergency Rescue Committee hope to spirit away as many European artists and intellectuals as they can manage.

Villa Air-Bel is about documentation, virtue, and desperation. It is a small, intense live action game about staplers and hard choices.

Larp House Presents: Games Within Games

“When you grow suspicious of a person and begin a system of espionage against him, your punishment will be that you find your suspicions true.”

—Elbert Hubbard

Two spies in Cold War Berlin circle each other in a mole-hunt. They betray each other’s trust and struggle with their inner demons.

Games Within Games centers on the fear and anxiety of two people who depend on anonymity and deception to avoid being killed. The two spies have the most to fear from each other. The person who they depend on most is the person whose betrayal would be the most shattering. This scenario is about vulnerable people concealing their weaknesses, and failing.

Larp House Presents: ’Terps

‘Terps is a live action role-playing game about combat interpreters – people who volunteer for extremely dangerous duty in the service of a foreign power, motivated by a desire to improve both their war-torn nation and their own lot in life. It is about commitments made and ignored, and brave allies abandoned. It is inspired by the ongoing tragedy of America’s withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Larp House Presents: LarpJam

Game Chef is an annual
role-playing game design competition, where participants have one week
to create a game. It is the Grand Prix of game design competitions, and
winners of this event have routinely published profitable games. This
year the competition is being held June 13-21st. To kick it off the Larp House is hosting a LarpJam.

LarpJam is a round-robin larp design workshop. Players make larps in small groups and trade them around. Each larp is expanded on by each subsequent group, becoming stronger as it comes into contact with more designers. In a matter of hours people with no larp design experience can create awesome, fully-playable larps!

Even if you can’t attend this LarpJam, you are encouraged to design something for Game Chef and plan to attend a future jam.

WHO:

Anyone with interest in games can LarpJam. In fact, people with little or no larp experience are more qualified to create larps in LarpJam. Experienced larpers and game creators are also, of course, welcome.

Oh What a Day, What a Lovely Day!

So we have been challenged to run a post apocalyptic larp in honor of the new Mad Max movie.  I can’t think of anything already made, so it looks like somebody will have to write it.  I’m thinking something Hillfolky would fit well.  So now the question is who will pick up the ball and give us an excuse to dress in rags and ammo?
