In Ready, Set, Switch! groups of players take turns playing the same character while multiple scenes play out in parallel, to explore some of the feelings and experiences, both negative and positive, that arise from discovering you exist in a plural system. How are you supposed to meet your goals, make friends, build relationships, when you’re missing out on 2/3rds of your own life?
“Plurality” is a type of neurodivergence where multiple people/identities/consciousnesses collectively share a single body, and a “system” is a common term to refer to this group. The characters are ordinary contemporary people living their lives in three everyday scenes, except that multiple players take turns portraying the same character in sequence. Players will switch between three concurrent scenes and have the experience as their charcaters of arriving in the middle of a situation they don’t recall starting. Keeping track of identities and meeting your goals will be a struggle at first, but it won’t last forever, once you meet the others you share your life with and learn how to work together.

If this game sounds interesting to you even though it is not in its final form, we will be very glad to have you join us! If you’d rather wait for its final form, this game will premiere at Make A Scene!, the Twin Cities’ premiere larp festival on August 14-16.

Story and Structure
The three scenes take place in the context of a choir that all characters are members of- socializing before a performance, a monthly planning meeting, and a 5k fundraiser.
Players take turns playing different versions of the same character within different scenes playing out in parallel. At periodic intervals they will swap with each other to pick up where they left off in a scene. The aim for this scenario is to elicit some feelings of fluctuating identity and dysphoria normally only experienced by plural systems. Over the course of the scenario players are allowed more of an opportunity to collaborate with the players they share a character with. The positive impacts of this “internal communication” is under-explored in other media about plurality.
Content Notice
We will use larp calibration and safety techniques.
This scenario explores what it’s like to be plural, and intentionally creates feelings of disorientation, dissociation, and dysphoria.
Costuming
No costuming is needed. May involve a lot of walking, wear comfortable shoes.

Covid policy
N95 respirators or better are required for everyone at this event, and we will have a few to share.
We strongly recommend all attendees get the Fall 2025 covid vaccine before attending this event. The Minnesota Department of Health has stated that in Minnesota you don’t need a reason or to be at extra risk to receive this important annual vaccination.
If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, stay home. If you are able to, take a rapid test before arrival. Please reach out if you have any questions about our policy.

Other Information
Calibration and Consent Tools
Following play, we will debrief to discuss our experiences and shed the roles we assumed for the game. The debrief is encouraged, but not required, and players are always free to leave for their well-being.
Social
After the event some folks will get food together to continue to hang out at Hourglass Café & Bar. Hanging out afterwards is totally optional, and we think it’s fun to get to know your fellow players as people, not just as their characters. Folks who didn’t attend the event are welcome to attend this part.
Accessibility
While the ideal play experience involves frequently moving between each scene and even walking laps around the entire playspace, the scenario is also capable of accommodating players with limited mobility. Please reach out if you’ve got any accessibility questions or to request accommodations.
Our venue is climate controlled. Our play space has plenty of seating, and is located on the lower level, accessible by elevator. The main entrance has double doors that can be opened by button-push, there are two accessible restrooms on the main level. The lower level has restroom access (not equipped with accessible entrance button). The upper level has two accessible bathrooms.
No food will be provided. Water will be available, and we recommend bringing a water bottle for your ease of access.
Minors
This larp might be appropriate for a someone under 18 years old, depending on their prior roleplaying experience and familiarity with the source material. Since Larp House is a group of volunteers without a legal entity, we require a parent or guardian to attend alongside any minor who’d like to participate. By all means reach out if you are unsure if this larp is a good fit for your child.
