Members of The Addams Family clash with the seemingly ‘normal’ family of their daughter’s fiance, during the lead up to the wedding of a cross-cultural couple: An Addams and a Normal. Will the two families ever get along? Will the juveniles’ wedding aisle file be vile in-style or beguile as worthwhile?! They’re scary and they’re spooky-

Join us for a light-hearted romp with genuine feelings as you play two over-the-top families going through some serious culture shock. Experience family expectations, disagreements, and questioning what it means to be an outsider.

Tickets

Get a ticket here!  Once you have filled out our form you don’t need to do anything else besides show up to play. If the event fills up, the same form is how you join the waitlist.

On the day of the event we request a pay-what-you-want goodwill donation ($10–$40 suggested) to support low-cost immersive scenarios in Minnesota. No one will be turned away if they do not make a donation.

Characters

You will play as either a member of the Addams Family or a member of the normal fiance’s family. No canon Addamses will be appearing as player characters. (ie. you won’t be Gomez or Morticia, you’ll be wholly original Addamses created for this game.) Playing a member of the Normal Family will also be fun: you get to satire buttoned-up propriety, be the ‘straight man’ for a lot of the jokes, and as well as have some juicy backstories of your own. Who knows, at the end you might decide you like the Addams more and jump ship.

Participant Communications

By the nature of the game, roughly half will be playing The Addams Family and half will be playing the Normal Family. You can expect a pre-written ~3 page character sheet, but Vivien is happy to tailor them to suit you as needed. (For example, if you have a very specific costume you want to wear.)

Costuming

Costuming encouraged! While no costume is required, this game is your chance to go all out with your goth friend’s closet or your most square attire for preps.

Structure

The larp will be played in a series of timed ‘episodes’ to capture that sitcom feeling. The kids break the news, the families meet, they celebrate a holiday together, they go on a family vacation. It ends with the re-hearse-al and the wedding!

Content Notice

We will use larp calibration and safety techniques.

Some frightening or horrific elements may be discussed (after all, what did Auntie Forcible do with all her ex-husbands?), but there will not be gore representations in the room. The Addams Family has members that have been serial killers, monsters, or other related things. They often threaten to kill or injure each other for fun. A player character may be getting poisoned. If you will find this kind of silly, humorous approach to otherwise somber topics distressing, this might not be the game for you!

Family drama, familial expectations, cults & cult behavior, death and dying, vying for inheritance, dark humor, threats of violence and general creepy and unsettling vibes. Self-harm in that Addamses are all sadistic/masochistic in some way and they enjoy it. Technical incest in that several Addamses have married other Addamses, they are a little confused about their family trees, but they are distant cousins at absolute worst.

Covid policy

N95 respirators or better are required for everyone at this event, and we will have a few to share.

We strongly recommend all attendees get the Fall 2025 covid vaccine before attending this event. The Minnesota Department of Health has stated that in Minnesota you don’t need a reason or to be at extra risk to receive this important annual vaccination.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, stay home. If you are able to, take a rapid test before arrival. Please reach out if you have any questions about our policy.

Other Information

Calibration and Consent Tools

Following play, we will debrief to discuss our experiences and shed the roles we assumed for the game. The debrief is encouraged, but not required, and players are always free to leave for their well-being.

After Party

After the event some folks will visit Ground Zero, an alternative nightclub known for its gothy patrons and industrial music. Hanging out afterwards is totally optional, and we think it’s fun to get to know your fellow players as people, not just as their characters. Folks who didn’t attend the event are welcome to attend this after-party.

Accessibility

By default, we assume players are able to participate and move between conversations of their choosing in a room where other people are talking. Please reach out if you’ve got any accessibility questions or to request accommodations.

Our venue is climate controlled. Our play space has plenty of seating, and is located on the main level. The main entrance has a door that can be opened by button-push, there are two accessible restrooms on the main level.

No food will be provided. Water will be available, and we recommend bringing a water bottle for your ease of access.

Minors

This larp might be appropriate for a  someone under 18 years old, depending on their prior roleplaying experience and familiarity with the source material. Since Larp House is a group of volunteers without a legal entity, we require a parent or guardian to attend alongside any minor who’d like to participate. By all means reach out if you are unsure if this larp is a good fit for your child.
