It’s 1993, when grunge music is all the rage, hacker kids are dialing up to this new thing called “the Internet,” and discontentment ripples through the secret world of the vampires.

In Chicago, Prince Lodin has dominated the vampires here for decades and kept various factions at bay. However, his days of dominance and absolute monopoly are numbered, and there are whispers of a revolutionary plot against his iron-fisted reign.

As a downpour pummels the streets outside the crumbling ruins of the City Methodist Church in Gary, Indiana, a small cabal of vampires gather inside to wait out the storm and plot to overthrow the Prince. That is, if they don’t all kill each other instead…

What

Hell Is Other Vampires is a larp about, well, vampires, but also an interpersonal drama about whether the group can put aside their personal problems to achieve their common goal, or if they succumb to petty squabbles instead.

Tone: A supernatural goth early ’90s gritty drama

You might enjoy this game if you are a fan of vampire media such as The Daybreakers or Interview with the Vampire, with a touch of No Exit by Jean-Paul Sartre and Reservoir Dogs. The setting is within the World of Darkness franchise of games, but no prior knowledge of the system or franchise is necessary to play.

Run Time: 3 to 4 hours, including approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of active play time

Players: 3 to 9 players

Facilitators: one

Larp House Presents: Uwe Boll's Xmas Special

(Update: The event is on Sunday, 30 December. We apologize for any confusion!)

Meanwhile, it is Christmas Eve in Jersey City. Families gather for dinner. Hope is in the air. But for one family this Christmas will be fraught with danger. Little do they know that their father, Vernor Cedrac, was involved with the Ultra Sechs program. Or that Karma, loving mother and daughter and host of the family’s Christmas feast, is one of the hidden offspring of the alien vampires. What other surprises lie in store for the Cedracs as they uncover family secrets and learn the true meaning of Christmas?*

What

Uwe Boll’s Christmas Special is a holiday-themed live-action comedy game for 8 to 12 players, designed to simulate the delicious chaos of a hypothetical Christmas special directed by controversial German director Dr. Uwe Boll. Players take the role of miscast actors starring in a genre mash-up gone awry. This game is game a tongue-in-cheek homage to Boll’s work: off-color video game adaptations and tasteless shooter flicks that shock, enthrall, bore and occasionally move DVD audiences worldwide.

Designed by Evan Torner and Kat Tobin
Organized by Josh Krehbiel and TLS

Larp House Presents: LarpJam

LarpJam, a workshop where participants will create their very own larps in a round-robin format. In a matter of hours people with no larp design experience can create awesome, fully-playable larps or the seeds that future larps can spring from! This process folds creative invocation, constructive constraints, and peer feedback into one lightning-fast process.

This event is being put together outrageously last minute because the Larp House was specially invited to participate in

Golden Cobra, a new freeform design competition that concludes October 30th. Seriously, Whitney Beltrán and Jason Morningstar wrote us personally to ask Larp House people to submit. Even if you can’t attend this Larpjam, you are encouraged to design something for Golden Cobra!

(Facebook event here)
RSVP Info Below

City of Fire and Coin is a Swords and Sorcery genre larp in which players have a lot of agency. As a result, this larp isn’t a win or lose type of game; sometimes telling a great story involves characters who make decisions that are ultimately against their best interests!
There are 12 player slots at this larp available on a first-come first-served basis. We’d like you to RSVP early. Because we are serious about our claim that you will have a lot of agency, once you have RSVP’d we’ll help you make a character and we will fold that character into our preparations. Please claim your slot ASAP by messaging us directly.

EDIT: All slots claimed, LARP IS FULL.

Costuming is encouraged for City of Fire and Coin. Based on the Quickstart RPG of the same name by Epidiah Ravachol. Information about the first run of the larp can be found here.
